Look....Lunch! #4

Happy Monday, Friends!! On the run today....I'm headed to the DMV to get my van's tags renewed (insert immensely unhappy face here). The DMV here in the M-town is soooooo slow. I hate going to the DMV!!! Nevermind that the Hubbz has been urging me to make this trip for two weeks, and I have been seriously procrastinating. Now, here it is, two days before they expire, so there's no putting it off today. I guess I'll take my iPad with me and peruse a few of the seriously awesome lunch blogs out there for some much needed lunch-making inspiration (insert immensely happy face here). Have a great Monday!!

Look....Lunch! #4
Here's the little guy's lunch for today:

"Look.....Lunch!" is a series of lunch posts for those days when I just don't have time to say anything more than, "Look.....Lunch!".

This lunch is packed in the Bentgo Kids lunchbox.

Sorta kinda Avengers DIY pizza Lunchable....

Yeah, I know! This is a pretty lame attempt at an Avengers lunch. Well, it didn't start out to be an Avengers lunch. I bought the Gogurts the other day at the grocery and didn't even notice that they were Avenger themed....just picked 'em up and tossed 'em in the cart. Over the weekend, my mother-in-law brought over a big honking bag of Hershey's mini chocolates that also were Avenger themed. Again, I did not even notice. So, here I am assembling this lunch, and my little guy comes into the kitchen, looks at the yogurt and chocolate, and says, "Cool Mom....Avengers lunch. I always wanted an Avengers lunch." Well alrighty then! Avengers lunch it is. What's ironic is that my son has absolutely no interest in Avengers or super heroes. Go figure an eight year old.

So, ok it's a sorta kinda Avengers DIY pizza Lunchable lunch (say that three times). I do the DIY pizza pretty often for Z. It's one of his favorite lunches. I like them because they are easy to do. Do your kids like the yogurt tubes? Here's a little tip....put the yogurt tube in the freezer the night before so that the yogurt freezes. Then, in the morning, pop it in the lunchbox frozen. It will thaw by lunch time, and help keep the lunch cold. Pretty clever, huh?

Bentgo Kids and a bear....

Giving the Bentgo Kids lunchbox a go again today. So far, we really like this lunchbox. For those of you familiar with the Yumbox, it is comparable in size to it. The inner box layout varies some, but capacitywise, the Bentgo Kids box holds about the same as the Yumbox. We're still in the "testing" phase of this new lunchbox, so after my son has used it a few more times, I'll share with you my thoughts on it compared to the Yumbox.

  • Brothers-All-Natural raspberry-Fuji apple fruit clusters mixed with Happy Times organic yogurt melts- My kids love the freeze dried fruit. The BAN fruit clusters are 100% fruit with nothing artificial added....a fun alternative to fresh fruit. The Happy Times yogurt melts are little yogurt bites that are freeze dried, as well. These make great snack choices, too.

Bentgo Kids lunchbox

Hey, hey Y'all!! Lookie here. There's a new lunchbox in the house. This is a Bentgo Kids lunchbox, and isn't it super cute? I've been eying one of these for some time, and I finally was able to get my hands on one. If your're a regular reader of The Lucky Lunchbox, then you already know how much I love the all-in-one type bento lunchboxes.....lunchboxes with the lid attached and divided compartments for food. I love the all-in-one type lunchboxes because they allow my son to sit down at the lunch table and begin eating his lunch....no baggies to open, no difficult container lids to open, no looking for a teacher to open said difficult lid. He can spend his 25 valuable minutes of lunch eating his lunch. I have very high hopes for this Bentgo Kids lunchbox.

The Bentgo Kids box is designed with children in mind. The recommended ages for this box are 3 to 7. My little guy is 7, and it holds plenty of food for him. (He has a small to medium appetite.) This box is on the small side. However, the Bentgo Kids lunchbox can be strategically packed so that it holds quite a lot of food. I can see my son using it for a couple more years. It may not be sufficient for bigger-kid appetites, though. It comes in three fun, bright colors...green, blue, and purple...sure to please even the pickiest color connoisseur.

The Bentgo Kids lunchbox has five individual compartments; one large compartment which is perfect for a small salad or half of a sandwich, and 3 smaller compartments that are great for fruit, veggies, pretzels, yogurt, or snacks. The smallest compartment is just the right size for ketchup, ranch dressing, or a fun little treat. I really like that the 5 individual compartments are sealed and leakproof when the box is closed.....yep! The food stays where it should, which means no soggy sandwiches or pretzels from leaking applesauce.

The front two clasps are easy to manipulate, which is great for small fingers. And the ultimate Mama-loving feature....the inner tray pops out and goes in the dishwasher. WooHoo!! (I would hand wash the outer box so as to preserve the leakproof seal.) The Bentgo Kids box has rubber coated edges and a sturdy drop-proof design, which is great for busy, on-the-go kids (or my little dropsy mopsy). It comes with an awesome 2-year warranty and is made with the highest quality food-grade materials, which means the box is free of BPA, PVC, Phthalates, lead, and vinyl.

The Bentgo Kids lunchbox costs appx. $28, and this does not include a carrying bag. It is not insulated, so an ice pack needs to be included.

So far, I really like this lunchbox. It makes eating AND packing lunch fun! I look forward to more fun lunches in the Bentgo Kids lunchbox.

I'm very pleased to share with you our very first Bentgo Kids lunch:

Freeze Dried Green Beans are A-OK...

WooHoo! New veggie like for the little guy....well, sort of! Green beans are probably one of Z's favorite vegetables. I found these Brothers-all-Natural freeze dried green beans the other day and decided to give them a try. WOWZERS!! These things are delicious. Z couldn't get enough of them. They are very crunchy, and the drying process strangely makes them slightly sweet. They have no additives or preservatives and are 100% veggie. These can be rehydrated and used in regular cooking, too. We love all of the Brothers-All-Natural products. Their freeze dried fruit is one of our favorite things to snack on, and we recently tried the new fruit clusters. Yummo!!! Added bonus....the official taste tester of The Lucky Lunchbox (our standard poodle) loves them, too. So, these are a great doggie treat, as well. Win-Win all around!

Buncha bears lunch...

Broke out the Pampered Chef Cut-n-seal for today's lunch. This is such a neat tool. My kids love the store bought peanut butter and jelly Uncrustables, and the Cut-n-seal makes the perfect sealed pocket sandwich. I turned this sammy into a bear with a bit of Swiss cheese and some olives. This box is very small, so I added some yogurt in the bear snack container (this little container came from my local Dollar Tree.). I also included a package of Brothers-All-Natural freeze dried peach fruit crisps. We love the BAN freeze dried fruit. The fruit crisps are all natural, preservative free, and gluten free. There's no added sugar or artificial colors. They are 100% fruit, nothing else. They are a healthy and convenient alternative to fresh fruit. The fruit crisps come in several varieties of fruit.....peach, strawberries, apples, bananas, pears, mixed berries, pineapple (there are other fruits, too).  My kids love these packages as snacks.

Freeze dried fruit....

Freeze dried fruit???!!!! Yep!!! I recently bought the Brothers All Natural freeze dried fruit for my kids to try and they loved it.....especially my little guy. It's 100% real fruit with no additives, preservatives, or artificial colors. Z likes to have it as an afternoon snack after school or for breakfast. There are several flavors....Asian pear, Fuji apple, and strawberry banana (Z already ate all the strawberry banana, or I would have pictured it) and there are other flavors, too.  I bought it at my local Walmart, but Brothers All Natural does have their own website. So, go out and get some!

And, no, I am not affiliated with Brothers All Natural.....this is just really good stuff!
