Mini Meat Kabobs...

My kids love food on a stick. And why not?! Food on a stick is so much more fun to eat, right? I love the 5 inch long heart skewers that I have, but short food picks or cupcake picks make great mini skewers. I found these cute swirl picks at Party City on the clearance rack about a year ago, and they make super cute mini kabobs, huh? Any 2 inch (or a bit longer) food picks or cupcake picks will work as a mini skewer. Cupcake picks are really just blinged out toothpicks, right? Lunch kabobs are a cool (and easy) way to make lunch fun. Today, I made all meat mini kabobs. But, you could change them up everyday.....ham, cheese, and veggies one day and grapes, strawberries, and blueberries the next. The options are endless. So, why not give lunchbox mini kabobs a try, Friends!

A Puzzling Back-to-School lunch

I almost hate to say this, but my kids eat A LOT of sandwiches. They make for such an easy lunch and fortunately, my kids don’t mind them. However, sandwiches can be so B O R I N G!! It's a daily challenge to make a healthy and appealing lunch that kids will eat, isn't it? So, how do you mix it up so the kids don't pull the plug on your easy fix when you need to prepare something quick, simple and healthy for lunch? Try turning an ordinary sandwich into something fun and creative by experimenting with neat sandwich cutters.

Enter The Lunch Punch. "What is The Lunch Punch?" you ask. The Lunch Punch is a creative sandwich cutter set that cuts sandwiches into fun and interactive shapes while cutting off only the crusts. WOW... a fun lunch with minimum waste! The cutters are taller than regular cookie cutters which makes it easy to cut through two pieces of bread and the filling without smooshing (I love that word!) the sandwich. Awesome, huh?! They are also great for cheese, toast, cookies, and Play-Doh. The Lunch Punch  comes in several super fun sets sure to please the fussiest eater, and each set comes with 4 different cutters....a lot of bang for the buck. I love that! Here are some of The Lunch Punch sets. I'm using the Match & Munch set for today's lunch which is a set of puzzle shaped cutters.

So, if you have a picky sandwich eater, give these a try. You (and your kidlets) will really love them.

We are ready for Spring...

This has been such a crazy week. We got hit by a snow and ice storm on Sunday night, and it sent our entire city into a state of panic. We rarely get bad weather here, so any amount of ice or snow sends us all into a frenzy. My kids have been off school since Monday. I've enjoyed spending the time with them, so lunches this week have been very simple. No blogging!! But, school is back in session today, and I have to admit, I'm ready for spring. Mr. Groundhog, whatever deal you made with winter, you need to reconsider it, PLEEEEEEZE!!

Hopefully channeling a little spring with today's lunch.
I'm using the Munchkin Mealtime Bento box for this lunch. I really like this box because it has 2 containers with lids that fit snugly together. I like that tiny little section between the 2 containers, too. It's the perfect size for a few M&M's or other small treat. The rest of the box holds plenty of food, as well.

Star Student fairy bread sandwich...

Well, this is the last day for Z to be the Star Student of the Week. This has been a good week for him, and I think he's a bit disappointed that's it's over. He really enjoyed being the line leader all week. Here's one last star themed lunch to end the week. I used my Pampered Chef cut-n-seal to make Z a sealed star fairy bread sandwich. I have simple how-to directions for making a fairy bread sandwich HERE.

Mini hearts Fairy bread sandwich....

I really love fairy bread sandwiches, and I love hearts. So, why not combine the two, I say. I put a different spin on this heart fairy bread sandwich....instead of 1 big heart in the middle of the bread, I made several small hearts. I really like how the apple turned out, too.  I cut a small apple in half, carved out the center into the shape of a heart, and filled it with Craisins.....sort of an apple bowl, I guess.

To make a "Fairy bread sandwich", cut out any shape of your choosing from the top slice of bread. A cookie cutter works great for this. Then, fill the cavity with any sprinkles you like. I used Wilton Valentine confetti sprinkles. Simple as that!

Boy, it's cold outside!!!!...

Hi everyone! I hope 2014 has started out to be a great year. This is the first post of 2014 for The Lucky Lunchbox. My kids were scheduled to go back to school today, but due to the extreme cold temps, they got one more day of winter break. Yesterday was the coldest day that the M-town has seen in 30 years. Yes, you heard that right...30 years! Today is only slightly warmer. We were all quite happy to have the extra day. I had already made this lunch yesterday when we found out school was cancelled, but Z was happy to eat it today.

Puzzle pieces lunch

Today's lunch is pretty simple and easy. I used the Lunch Punch Sandwich Cutters in the puzzle shapes set. Lunch Punch has several different shaped cutter sets that can be used to create cute sandwiches very quickly. I used it to cut the apple and strawberry. It think would be great to use with cheese, fruit leather, and veggies, too.

Let's Have a Sock Hop

Well, I admit it......I spent waaaay to much time on this lunch. I usually don't spent a ton of time on Z's lunches, but this lunch was special. Today is the 50th day of school for Z, and his school is celebrating by having the entire day revolve around the 50's. The kids were allowed to dress like the 50's, and they get to attend a sock hop complete with RC Cola and Moon Pies. What a fun day this will be for all those kiddos!!! Of course, you cannot have a sock hop without a poodle skirt, right? So, today Z gets a poodle skirt sandwich for lunch. This was such a fun lunch to make.

This lunch is packed in Easy Lunch Boxes.

My little guy looked so cute, I just had to include a pic of him, too. He was so excited about this day. I can't wait to pick him up from school and hear all about the fun sock hop.
